Me & Em.

That's me and my B.F, Emma!
We meet in yr 7, she was asked to make sure I got on the right bus at the end of my first day at my new school.
A real life line for me because I was plucked from my Co Ed School and put into a yellow and brown school uniform and into a Girls School.

We are 18 in the picture above, in our vintage 501's, just finished school, looking forward to our futures.
We have seen each other through many of life's milestones, First Loves, Big Break Ups, Education, Travel, Family Loss, Weddings and Em is Mackenzie's Godmother.

Which leads me to the reason of this post!
Emma is getting married in January and expecting her first baby soon!

I volunteered to create her Bridal Tea invite.
Below are pics of what I created for her. I sourced the images from a real 1950's bridal magazine I found at my local 2nd hand dealers shop, they are fantastic, had to use them!
Once scanned into Photoshop, my foray into being a Graphic Designer began!
Here are the final JPEGs but Photoshop is a cruel mistress and I bowed done to her many times till I won in the end!

Handy hints for P.S
1- make the canvas size the size you want the print to be, mine are  12X12.
2- Use your own images, importing from the web, these images just pixelate!
3- Print on the best paper you can afford, ask the technicians at office works to use PS Elements to print your work, you can guarantee that your JPEG is printed to correct size.
4- Persistence and wine are necessary accompaniments for P.S
Now to assemble my prints into a vintage inspired invitation.

Here I've made a hole to fasten the eyelets on each print out, then the invite is fastened together with a pink ribbon.

I made a sleeve for the invite to rest in, found some lovely vintage inspired paper, with roses!

Using brown paper and a bird stamp, for more vintage goodness!

The invite, brown paper stamped cover with floral sleeve and finally the doily ribboned envelope.

A Festive Table

I just can't do red and green and all the trappings/motifs of a cold wintery our table this year was a mish mash of thrift finds, family heirlooms, paper dec's, handmade and flowers.

Although we did have a Traditional UK Christmas Dinner, Turkey, Roast Tatties, Yorkshire Puddings!
Still an English Girl at Heart.

Wedding gifts, thrift finds and IKEA with my blue birthday hydrangeas.

Love a Denby plate, cost a pretty penny ...but it's a Denby!

I have been collecting dollies for some time...put them to good use and they have washed up well today!

Lastly the centre piece was, my flower display, sourced from the garden, florist and local market.

Big Day Out

I had a chance to visit the Modern Times Pop Up Shop 2 today in Collingwood.
I thought I'd share some pics with you. They don't do the space justice, as it looks amazing!

It takes real skill as a designer/stylist, to style a space full of eclectic furniture and homewares and bring it together in an effortless way, as Amy has.

Love this Turquoise Lamp Shade and Dusty Blue Oak chair...Hoot Hoot Owl cushions!

Ohh I spy an Eames Rocker!

Love the Blue Print

A lovely Lamp, gorgeous Teak Dresser and Bureau with the Wall Mounted Shelves.

A beautiful tonal pencil drawing, delicately constructed with a splash of colour.

CACTUS! made from wool felt and embroidered, inside a vintage pot...want one!

Set of three Side Tables with ceramic tile inlay, very cool!...More Cactus :)

Relax on this Blue Day Bed?...yes please!
If you see anything you like and want to know more!
Visit the shop, or contact the lovely Amy, she is very knowledgeable and helpful.

That's me, putting the finishing touches on the Mini Modern Macrame's for the Harvest Xmas Market tomorrow.
More pics to follow tomorrow!
Enjoy! :)

I heart Christmas Decorations

I love to design, make and embroider Christmas decorations, here are some of my pieces.
It makes the tree, that little bit nicer when you go handmade. I hope your Christmas preparations are going well?

So far I have avoided the masses, by online shopping, but I will forget something or someone sooner or one visit to the shops for the Christmas buzz will no doubt happen!

The charm of retro

I love to listen to By Design

I'm a keen pod caster, I spend alot of time in children's playground and nothing passes the "pushing on the swings" time, like a podcast...

but this ones about Retro everything, speaking is Professor Adrian Franklin, Sociologist, University of Tasmania, author and a presenter on ABC TV's Collectors!
